England-Lacock Abbey

City View RR-Group 127-Galupy

The Abbey was founded in 1232, it was converted into a country house in 1540. Some interior sequences in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets were filmed here.

Lacock Abbey could be considered as the birthplace of photography. It was here in the early 1830's that William Fox-Talbot performed his experiments into the properties of light. Below is the photo he took.

I'm intrigued by the postage. 60p is for European countries including all ex USSR countries. Australia should be 67p. Did it take forever to get to you?

I sent one card from England to Europe, supposedly with insufficient postage. It took 4 weeks! I could have walked faster.

Thanks for your comment. I didn't notice the postage but the English ones take about a week I didn't notice this one take a long time.
